The Pinheiros Altos Golf Course

The 27 hole Pinheiros Altos Golf Course which is located in the exclusive Quinta do Lago Resort near Almancil in the Algarve. It was designed by Donald Steel and was inaugurated in 1991 and extended into 27 holes by the Portuguese architect George Santana da Silva in 2007. All three courses start and finish in close proximity to the Pinheiros Altos Clubhouse.

The Pines Course - The signature hole is the ninth with a beautiful Par-3 over a valley, while the par 5 fourth hole is a prime example of risk and reward golf. The view from the green over the water which is within reach for most golfers is a temptation to consider as it often results in an erring ball in a watery grave!

The Corks Course - This nine is the longest of the three at Pinheiros Altos and is considered the most demanding of all. The nine holes are a mixture of the original and new with views of the Ludo valley and the Goldra hills. The first tee shot on the first hole is demanding. Payers regard the eighth hole and a Par-5 double dogleg of 580 yards as the most difficult hole and responsible for some high numbers on the scorecard.

The Olives Course - These nine holes formed the original back nine and has remained unchanged since the island green eighth hole was constructed in 1995. The eighth hole is now the signature hole of and a must play hole for golfers. The bird life that is associated with Pinheiros Altos is usually the most visible on this hole. The gentle rolling fairways of the The Olives course wend their way between lakes and make for an enjoyable and great golfing setting.
