Layout

The Quinta do Lago North Golf Course was inaugurated in 1974 and is located in the exclusive Quinta do Lago Resort near Almancil in the Algarve. The golf course winds its way through an umbrella pine tree forest. The course architect paid particular consideration to placement of bunkers to create challenges on the both the fairways and those guarding the greens. Famous male and female players who have played the Quinta do Lago North Course, including the Ryder Cup and the Curtis Cup teams, have all been generous in their praise for the general layout and playing difficulty of the holes.

The course is designed as an anti-clockwise loop and favours golfers that can draw the ball. There are four great Par-5 holes each requiring power and accuracy to keep a low score. All the Par-3 holes are subject to be influenced by the sea winds that occasionally occur. Hole fourteen of 154 metres and a Par-3 is considered outstanding. All the Par-4s are doglegs except for the holes number ten and thirteen. The two lakes on holes thirteen and eighteen have claimed many unfortunately victims. The course tends to favour the golfer who can draw the ball coupled with precision driving in order to end with a low scorecard total. The Quinta do Lago North Golf Course should be considered with its sister course the Quinta do Lago South for your Golf Holiday Package.
