The Quinta do Lago South Golf Course

The 18 hole championship Quinta do Lago South Golf Course was inaugurated in 1974 and is located in the exclusive Quinta do Lago Resort near Almancil in the Algarve. This golf course has been home several times for the Portuguese Open with memorable results. The golf course favours the long hitter and also requires the player to select a particular route to score well by following the design of the architect to produce a sub-par scorecard. As the course is laid out as an anti-clockwise loop it naturally favours the draw shot on the first nine holes.

The third, fifteen and seventeenth holes all require shots to successfully negotiate the lakes. Holes eight, ten, fifteen and eighteen, are the most testing on the course and require good accurate shots from the scratch player. While holes two, three, five, twelve, thirteen and seventeen, offer the best chance of scoring a birdie.
