The Santo Antonio Golf Course

The 18 hole Parque da Floresta Golf Course designed by Pepe Gancedo with 18 holes and is located at Budens in the far western part of the Algarve. Some sloping fairways that either slope upwards or downwards and often quite steep, combined with the fairways sloping from left to right or vice versa. Then, just to add to the challenges to the golfer a coastal wind that can swirl will all add to a interesting round of golf. Some fairways which formerly had these side slopes have now been levelled off and attractively landscaped. The hilly countryside surrounding the course has its own beauty even if it is a little barren of trees but views of the distant ocean make for an overall attractive view.

At first sight the golf course may be daunting for high handicappers but this is what intrigues those who play it for the first time. The tendency is for golfers to return time and again in an attempt to master these demanding holes. It is a fascinating case of the greater the challenge, the more satisfying the reward. The Par-3 fifteenth hole of 159 metres is considered a dream for a golfer.
