The Vila Sol Golf Course

The Vila Sol Golf Course which was opened in 1991 and is located next to Vilamoura Resort area in the Algarve. The Vila Sol Golf Course fairways stretch along a generous valley and are divided into three loops with three different levels of difficulty. Their names are Prime Course, Challenge Course and Prestige Course, and the Clubhouse is the beginning and finishing point for all three loops. Its main claim to fame is that in 1992 it hosted the Portuguese Open. Perhaps, not the most exciting course in the Algarve, but it redeems itself with tight testing holes that need very accurate long irons into the greens.

Prime 9 Holes - The first hole is a Par-4 with 381 metres which establishes the general length of most holes. The next Par-4 is 407 metres and they later increase to 494 metres and 499 metres. Even the Par-3s are not under 180 metres.

Challenge 9 Holes - This group of nine holes are mostly shorter, the Par-3s down to 159 metres, the Par-4s down to 313 metres, and the Par-5s down to 456 metres.

Prestige 9 Holes - The back nine has two attractive Par-3s down to 144 metres, the Par-4s down to 297 metres, but the Par-5s up to 519 metres.
